Colleen

She asked about you,
you heard the words.
I told her about you,
and she said

I had a friend like that
once.
I destroyed my friend
because of labels.
I let them win
for a time.
I don’t speak the words,
they do not sound pretty,
they are not nice, cute, snuggly
and wrapped,
in shiny plastic.
I silenced that part of me.

She must still speak,
she is one of us,
speaking and writing on the pages
of her body.
Expressive eyes,
smiling,
telling
me.

Listen,
listen to me.
I won’t be silenced
easily.

She spoke to me.
I listened.
I understood.

I told her,
asked her,
hoped, desired
and,
pleaded for her to,
pick up the pen,
the brush,
continue.
Allow yourself to speak.

And to my delight,
and perhaps,
my arrogance.
I believe she will.

Stumbling

reaching
eyes closed
stumbling over
your unbelief
Falling again.

crying
lips quiver
silently
stumbling over
your unbelief.

Falling again.
Failing again.
crying again
sighing again.

dying

Again.
Lifting you
Loving you
Holding you.

He smiles.

Untitled – Peace-

Peace-
besieged by soulless coin chasers.
The sky lowers
gravity pulls
kindness consumed.

The Taskmasters crack the whip
and the heart withers.
compassion-
eviscerated by
heartless ones
understanding neither love
nor
joy.
Only
greed
driven by
their own slaver drivers.
Their hands grasping, tearing, pulling
themselves-
into
A false peace.

The green in their hands-
bloodstained
tainted.
They care not.

Marti

She said she dreamed.
Dreamed and dreamed.
and then she woke up.
“Dreams aren’t reality!”

-Her words set me ablaze. No, dreams aren’t reality.
They are the hope of humanity
breaking all barriers (except those we erect).
Dreams are-
will always be,
Hope.
A new day.
A fresh face.

Dream and make it reality,
for that’s all that we truly have
You and I,
we are nothing,
without our dreams.

Take the good and the bad.
Do you really think you can choose?
Yes,
you can choose.
Oh, not the way you’d like.

Life isn’t a supermarket or a thrift store.
The great bargains we search for are right before us.
Just reach out,
slowly,
if you must,
and embrace them.

Don’t let go of your dreams.
Don’t succumb.
Don’t stop.
Please don’t stop.

Dream your dreams and,
call them silly,
anything you want,
but-
don’t stop!
