Tales

of lace and snow,
of love, brought low.

Birds soaring yonder,
are heard to ponder,
the whimsical ways,
of humans, these days.

Love and trust,
given, to
greed and lust.

Forces unseen,
come between,
husband and wife,
riddled with strife.

Lovers forlorn,
too quick to scorn,
for hearts that
are broken, healed
not, by a token.

Such a day,
as today.
Thick skin,
is required, for
romance caught, in
twisty mire.

Yet here I stand,
heart in hand,
believing someone
will hear,
that Hope,
is near.

We’re all broken;
those, God chooses
to do great works.
The ones who know
pain.
It’s Us, the broken
people; shattered
by the world.
Our voices and
compassion. The
scars that say,
“I know. I’ve been there.”
All the shed
tears, heartbreaks,
trauma-
pain.

Us. We the broken
people. Our lives-
We, who confound
the strong with
our courage to go
on. Our burning
need, to never say,
“fail.”
To get back up.
It’s Us. He uses,
because
we,
understand.

Hallelujah

Skin, covered
jagged, raised
swollen, scarlet
meandering rivers,
shining, still-
outstretched, pale
legs, sunken
hollow
woven, wounds…
paradoxically
pure spirit,
cleansed mind.
Celebrating,
Your
victories.

wide eyed and bushy tailed,
once upon a time.

The hills became higher,
mountains.

free
climbing
now.
Every
hand hold,
along
     the
        way-
A betrayal
of the deepest
of me.
