I see

towering, vine
entangled, age
faded, cracks
abounding, iron
straps binding.
Brilliant
silver shafts
beam, cracks,
splinters, edges-
bursting words-
full- of life,
possibility,
endless, free-
healing, the
sick, raising,
the dead,
deserts blooming,
spectrums splashing,
hope arising.
Glowing hands,
light woven,
pulling through…
These hands,
this door:
my mind.

Malice, stirs within-
love springs, eternal, filling
hearts, creating life…

Echoes

sparkle in
droplets,
tears fall,
joyful
footsteps;
paths
behind
twinkling,
yearning-
taking,
the next
step.

I received the most wonderful news. I did not win the 2019 Max Ritvo Poetry Prize. I submitted my book, Random Fragments, in May of this year. I could say that I’ve been waiting anxiously to receive word regarding the outcome of my submission but that wouldn’t be true. I knew that once I had completed the book and submitted it that I had already won.
